  We’re celebrating 10 years of MeetDistrict – but have you ever wondered how it all began?

  Before the MarketPlace buzzed with meetings and phone calls, before sleek PhoneBooth and CosyCorners... MeetDistrict was just an idea. One that took shape in a place most of you know, the KAA Gent football stadium.

  Back in 2015, the stadium offered an unexpected opportunity. A lot of space. A lot of ambition. And a bold vision: to create a workplace like no other – one that didn’t just offer desks, but a whole ecosystem. A place where businesses could sit side by side, like shops on a street, with natural flow, transparency, and human connection built into every square metre.

  There was no name yet. Just an early concept – a modern take on coworking before coworking became cool. The idea was simple: create a street-like feel indoors, where companies could grow, meet, and thrive. Think concrete floors, glass walls, signage at every door, and shared MeetBoxes in between.

  As time went on, the design took shape. Early versions were bold – colourful interiors, book-cover walls, even quotes on the glass. Some stuck. Others didn’t. But that was part of the magic: experimenting, adjusting, learning. The result? A space that felt alive. Open. Professional, but never stiff.

  Soon, a name followed – MeetDistrict. A nod to places like the Meatpacking District in New York. A name that hinted at movement, connection, and urban identity. It just... fit.

What started as a single floor in the Ghelamco Arena quickly turned into something more. New locations opened in Berchem, Brussels, and Diegem – each with its own twist, its own personality. And with each new MeetDistrict, we grew not just in size, but in insight.

Every new project became a reflection of the moment we were in. In the early days, we gave space generously – wide corridors, open zones. As our Community grew, so did our understanding of how people really wanted to work. FlexSpaces emerged. PhoneBooths appeared. SilentDistricts became just as important as MeetBoxes. And yes – some ideas came straight from our Members, who were often the first to test out a new nook before the stickers had even come off.

The early years of MeetDistrict had all the energy of a start-up. Fast decisions, passionate teams, lots of doing and re-doing. But as we expanded, so did our need for structure. Over the years, MeetDistrict evolved into a stable, scalable business – with a dedicated operations team, strong community culture, and a clear roadmap.

Technology has always been part of the MeetDistrict mindset – from day one, we’ve looked for smart ways to enhance the experience. Some of our biggest leaps came early: experimenting with external tools, developing in-house systems, and setting the bar high for seamless service.

Today, we find ourselves in the midst of a full digital transformation. It’s a bold shift – and one that temporarily took us a step back in comfort and ease. But with every change, there’s clarity. We’re learning what matters most, listening closely to feedback, and building toward a stronger, more connected system. It’s not perfect yet – but we’re on our way.

Looking back, we’ve come a long way. But we’re just as focused on what’s ahead. The way we work keeps changing – new generations, new needs, new ways of blending work and life. We’re not here to chase trends. But we do listen. And we adapt.

You’ll see it in the way our spaces have shifted over time – from classic layouts to more dynamic, flexible designs. From “just offices” to full ecosystems of connection, wellbeing, and flow.
